NNBAR@ESS
An experiment for the
European Spallation source
to look for
neutrons converting INto antimatter or disappearing into a dark sector
1000X more sensitive than previously obtained
NNBAR tackles key open questions in modern physics: the origin of matter-antimatter asymmetry and the nature of the mysterious dark matter in the universe
Working towards a Conceptual Design Report with funding from the Swedish Research Council and from the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union.
NNBAR@ESS activities at the European level are currently funded by the European Commission and the Swedish Research Council.
HIBEAM - The first stage of the NNBAR experiment which will search for the "mirror universe".
The first stage of the program, the High Intensity Baryon Extraction and Measurement (HIBEAM), will employ the planned fundamental physics beamline during the first phase of European Spallation Source operation. Besides being a fundamental R&D step for the final NNBAR experiment, HIBEAM will explore the theory of mirror matter, a dark sector represented by a replica of the so-called Standard Model of particle physics.
An international collaboration with signatories from 26 institutes and 8 countries.
NNBAR@ESS
A remarkable opportunity to shed light on the dark matter mystery.
A fundamental physics journey.
